PM performs Umrah
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, now on a four-day official visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, performed holy 'Umrah' in Makkah Monday night.
Sheikh Hasina first performed 'tawaf' around the holy Ka'bah Sharif and later walked and ran between Safa and Marwa.
She also offered prayers seeking divine blessings for the country's people as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and others accompanying the prime minister also performed Umrah.
Earlier around 9:00 pm (local time), Sheikh Hasina arrived in Makkah from Jeddah by road.
The prime minister arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah after offering ziarat at the Rawza Mubarak of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) at Masjid-e Nababi in the holy city of Madinah. She also offered Zohr prayers at the Masjid-e-Nababi.
The prime minister arrived in Saudi Arabia on May 21 at the invitation of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to join the first-ever Arab Islamic-American (AIA) Summit, held on Sunday in the Saudi capital.
US President Donald Trump was also in Riyadh on his first foreign tour since taking office and attended the summit.
Wrapping up her four-day visit, Sheikh Hasina will leave Saudi Arabia for home this afternoon.
