3 brothers drown in Keraniganj

Three brothers drowned while taking a dip in South Keraniganj on the outskirts of Dhaka today.

The deceased were identified as Md Hridoy, 18, Md Ibrahim, 22, and Md Sohel, the victims’ uncle Al Amin told The Daily Star this evening.

They went to take bath in a branch of Buriganga River and drowned around 12:00noon, he said.

Hridoy was whisked off to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead. The bodies of Ibrahim and Sohel were found floating in the river an hour later.

The bodies were handed over to the family after autopsy, said Ful Mia, a sub-inspector of South Keraniganj Police Station.
