The Supreme Court today fixed June 4 for passing order on two separate review petitions filed against its verdict which declared the Gulshan residence, where senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed has been living, an abandoned property.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division of the SC, headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, set the date after holding hearing on the review petitions.

On August 2 last year, the SC scrapped a High Court verdict that had directed the authorities to mutate the Gulshan residence, where Moudud has been living using the name of his brother- Manzur Ahmed, and also ruled that the house land is an abandoned property.

The apex court, however, quashed the proceeding of a corruption case filed against Moudud and his brother Manzur Ahmed on the charge of grabbing the land of the residence.

The SC order means that Moudud Ahmed has to leave the residence, Anti-Corruption Commission lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan told The Daily Star.

Later on, Manzur and ACC filed separate petitions with the SC seeking review of its judgment on them.

The ACC on December 17, 2013 lodged the case with Gulshan Police Station against Moudud and his brother Manzur on the charge of grabbing an abandoned public land worth over Tk 300 crore in Gulshan of Dhaka.

The ACC said in the case statement that Moudud and his brother grabbed the land -- stretching over around one bigha and 13 katha -- in Gulshan between 1978 and 2006.
