England chase down Tigers' 305 in style
Although it looked close for a while, England's experienced pair of Joe Root (133 not out off 129 balls) and Eoin Morgan (75 not out off 61) took the home side past Bangladesh's 305 for six with 16 balls to spare in the Champions Trophy opener at The Oval. The duo made the highest successful chase in the Champions Trophy look relatively simple. In the end, Bangladesh's 305 for six was around 30 runs short with Tamim Iqbal (128 off 142) and Mushfiqur Rahim (76 off 72) losing their wickets at exactly the wrong time. In defence of that total, Bangladesh's bowling lacked penetration and Shakib Al Hasan's woes with the ball did not help.
England go top of the four-team group A, which has Australia and New Zealand as the other teams. Bangladesh's next match is on June 5 against Australia at the same venue.
47.2 -- Joe Root hits the second of consecutive fours of Mosaddek Hossain to take England home with eight wickets and 16 balls to spare.
42.5 -- Joe Root reaches his 10th ODI century with a tuck off his pads for two off Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. Joe Root 100 (115b, 6x4, 0x6)
42.1 -- Eoin Morgan reaches his 33rd ODI half-century with a clobber past point off Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. Eoin Morgan (45b, 6x4, 0x6)
27.6 -- Having hit a four and a six off part-time leg-spinner Sabbir Rahman, Hales tries to repeat the dose in sight of his century but his slog-sweep is caught by the sweeper on the leg-side fence.
Alex Hales c sub (Sunzamul Islam) b Sabbir Rahman 95 (86b 11x4 2x6) FOW: 165/2 in 28 overs
21.6 -- Joe Root takes a two through midwicket off Shakib Al Hasan and brings up his 50. Joe Root 50 (59b, 4x4, 0x6)

16.6 -- Alex Hales reaches 50 with a casual flick to the midwicket fence off Rubel Hossain. Hales 50 (52b, 7x4, 0x6)
11.2 -- Joe Root pushes a single past point off Mustafizur Rahman to bring up the 50 partnership for the second wicket with Alex Hales in 8.5 overs. England 56/1 in 11.2 overs
2.3 – Jason Roy plays a suicidal scoop off Mashrafe and Mustafizur Rahman completes a fine diving catch at short fine leg to draw first blood.
Last batsman Jason Roy c Mustafizur Rahman b Mashrafe Mortaza 1 (8b 0x4 0x6) FOW: 6/1
A fantastic Tamim Iqbal century and his 166-run partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim took the Tigers to 305 for six at the end of the first innings of the Champions Trophy opener against England at The Oval.
It is a score both sides will be satisfied with. Bangladesh probably would have taken 305 for six when they were asked to bat by England, the favourites to go the whole way in the eyes of many. But the pitch looks like a belter and at one stage Bangladesh, with centurion Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim growing great guns, looked good for a score of 330-plus. But the two departed in successive balls and restricted Bangladesh to 43 runs in the last five overs.
49.1 -- Sabbir Rahman tries to hit a six to start off the last over but ends up hitting it straight to Jason Roy at long on.
Sabbir Rahman c Roy b Plunkett 24 (15b 3x4 0x6) FOW: 300/6
46.4 -- Shakib AL Hasan cannot reach the pitch of the ball and holes out to long on off Jake Ball.
Last batsman Shakib Al Hasan c Stokes b Ball 10 (8b, 2x4,0x6) FOW: 277/5
44.4 -- And Mushfiqur departs very next ball, chipping in the air to deep midwicket for 79. Mushfiqur 79 (72b, 8 x 4, 0x6)
Last batsman Mushfiqur Rahim c Hales b Plunkett 79 (72b, 8x4,0x6) FOW: 261/4
44.3 -- Tamim plays one too many and departs for a fabulous 128. He goes for a hook off Liam Plunkett and the swirling top-edge is caught by the keeper.
Last batsman Tamim Iqbal c Buttler b Plunkett 128 (142b, 12 x 4, 3 x 6) FOW: 261/3
Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim's current stand of 163 is Bangladesh's highest for any wicket against England, beating Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur's fifth-wicket stand of 141 in Adelaide 2015.
41. 3 -- And another one, this time against pacer Graeme Wood. Tamim helps a delivery straying down the leg side over the fine leg fence for a six. Bangladesh 238 for 2 in 41.3 overs (Tamim 119*, Mushfiqur 64*)
40.1 -- Tamim's serenity gives way to a storm as the left-hander looks to pick up the pace. He announces his intentions by hitting Moeen Ali for six over long on to take Bangladesh to 229 for two in 40.1 overs.
38.6 -- With a tuck off the pads off Moeen Ali Tamim Iqbal brought up his ninth ODI century. Tamim Iqbal: 100 (124b, 11 x 4, 1 x 6)
36.5 -- A straight drive from Mushfiqur Rahim off brings up the 100 partnership for the third wicket between Tamim Iqbal and Mudhfiqur Rahim in just 17.3 overs. It also brings up Mushfiqur Rahim's 25th ODI 50. Bangladesh are now 198/2.
32.0 -- A bit of heat between Stokes and Tamim once more. The batsman hit him for a four through third man, which elicited some words from Stokes. At the end of the over Stokes gives Tamim a pat on the shoulder, which the batsman does not appreciate and the umpires step in to diffuse the situation.
27.2 -- Mushfiqur Rahim pulls a Ben Stokes delivery for four as Tamim and Mushfiqur partnership reaches 50 runs in 48 balls.
21.5 -- FOUR, fifty for Tamim, his 37th in ODIs. Has been a patient effort, short and wide from Plunkett, Tamim cracks it square behind point. He is on 52 from 77 balls with seven boundaries. This is Tamim's 38th ODI 50.
19.2-- Imrul Kayes tries a wild heave and mistimes the ball but a lovely diving catch by Mark Wood see him go back to the pavillion.
Last batsman out Imrul Kayes c Wood b Plunkett 19 (20b 3x4 0x6) SR: 95.00
Fall of wicket 95/2 (19.2 ov); Partnership: 39 runs, 7.2 overs, RR: 5.31 (Tamim Iqbal 19, Imrul Kayes 19)
England's Chris Woakes has gone off after straining his left side. His situation is being assessed.
11.6 -- Soumya Sarkar falls. Soumya looked to slash it over cover but only manages to find the man in the deep. Soumya loses his wicket just when he was looking good.
batsman Soumya Sarkar c sub (JM Bairstow) b Stokes 28 (34b 4x4 1x6) SR: 82.35
Fall of wicket 56/1 (11.6 ov); Partnership: 56 runs, 12.0 overs, RR: 4.66 (Tamim Iqbal 26, Soumya Sarkar 28)
6.6 -- Moeen Ali has dropped a sitter as Soumya Sarkar gets another a chance to carry on with his innings. A pretty regular catch and the ball somehow slipped off Moeen's hands.
DRINKS! A great start for @BCBtigers who are 82/1.

England have won the toss and elected to field first in the opening game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 against Bangladesh at the Kennington Oval, London today.
Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar opens the innings for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh comes into this game on the back of two losses in the warm up matches against Pakistan and India. However, Captain Mashrafe Mortaza spoke positively before the start of this global event.
“This ICC Champions Trophy is an opportunity for us to show our skills to the world and also an opportunity to show the world that we can play good cricket away from home,” the Captain said during a press conference.
Bangladesh beat England to knock them out of the 2015 World Cup when the two sides last met in a major tournament.
Coach Chandika Hathurusinghe opted for words of caution before the tournament opener: "Whatever you have done in the past gives you a little bit of confidence, but then you have to start again."
