‘A few extra passengers won't add to risk’
Carrying a few passengers beyond capacity on Eid holidays will not be a big problem for water vessels as those avoid carrying extra weight allocated for goods during that time, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said today.
“I feel like it is not that risky,” the minister said in response to a query by journalists over carrying extra passengers during the Eid holidays.
The minister made the remarks after coming out of a seminar at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon.
Replying to another query the minister further said no water vessels are allowed to ply without proper fitness. The government will monitor the vessels closely, he said.
The government-authorised vessels do not ply the routes without fitness, the minister added.
