FIDE Master Fahad Rahman and Jannatul Ferdous slipped to the second position from top in their respective groups of the Commonwealth Chess Championship at the end of the third round in New Delhi yesterday.

Both Fahad and Jannatul, who led their U-14 and U-12 groups respectively with two straight wins, stumbled in the third round.  Fahad drew against India's Vrandesh Parekh while Jannatul drew against India's Salhwika. They both have 2.5 points.

In the open section, GM Ziaur Rahman and GM Enamul Hossain Razib returned to winning ways but GM Abdullah Al Rakib and GM Niaz Murshed were held to draws in their second matches.   

Zia beat India's Abirama Srinithi and Razib beat South Africa's Klavansky Aron while Rakib drew with India's Nayak Rajesh, Niaz drew with India's Joshi Govind Ballash and FM Taibur Rahman drew with India's Gagare Shalmani. They were scheduled to play their third round matches last night.

Rakib, Niaz and Taibur have 1.5 points each while Zia, Razib, WIM Shamima Akter and Hanif Molllah earned one point from two matches.
