Abduction, forced disappearance increasing geometrically: BNP
BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today said that “abduction, forced disappearance and extrajudicial killing” are now increasing in the country geometrically.
“The primitive inhumanity has eaten up the entire country as abduction, forced disappearance, illegally detention and extrajudicial killing are now increasing here geometrically,” Rizvi said at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.
The BNP leader came up with the comments at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this afternoon, hours into Human Rights Watch (HRW) criticised Bangladesh government over enforced disappearances carried out reportedly by the law enforcement agencies in the country.
He said opposition party leaders, writers, human rights activists, labour leaders and professionals are becoming victim of the criminal activities.
“They have been confined. Someone’s bodies are being found floating in river or canal or beside a road while the fate of other victims remained unknown,” he said.
Referring to the HRW report, Rizvi underscored the need for United Nation’s investigation for the sake of safe living and justice for the people of Bangladesh.
