Young Australians to face Bangladesh HP squad
A group of young Australian players will head to Darwin this week to face off against touring Bangladesh HP squad.
Bangladesh HP are set to play against a Northern Territory outfit in two one day matches and a three- day game.
Six young players are set to join the Northern Territory.
All-rounder Austin Waugh and opening batsman Ryan Hackney -- members of the Australia Under 19 team that defeated Sri Lanka are set to be part of the squad which plays Bangladesh HP.
According to a Criket Australia (CA) report, batting all-rounder Tom Snowden and wicket-keeper Baxter Holt are two players from New South Wales who are going to feature in the team. They will be joined by Tom O’Connell (South Australia) and Jarrod Freeman (Tasmania).
Bangladesh HP squad features players who have already had international exposure – Liton Das, Anamul Haque and Jubair Hossain have played in all Test, ODI and T20 formats.
Cricket Australia Pathways Manager Graham Manou said. “This a great chance for the players selected to get outdoors and play some competitive cricket against international opposition at the beginning of their pre-season.
“There’s still a long way to go until next year’s under-19 World Cup, but we have a really talented group of players coming through the Pathway who will be eligible for selection.”
The decision to play the youngsters means they get an early opportunity to push their case for selection in the 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
