Delving deep into perennial waterlogging of Ctg
The waterlogging plague of Chittagong city has returned yet again this monsoon, triggered by the incessant rainfall over the last few weeks.
The city’s 22 wards are particularly vulnerable to the perennial problem that is experienced by the city dwellers every year.
The situation gets worse in Chadgaon, Purba Shalosahor, Purba Paschim and Dakkhin Baklia, Uttar and Dokkhin Agrabad, Gosailbhanga, Uttar Maddhom Halisahor areas during rain and high tide.
The drainage system of the city has been totally broken down and a telling window of mismanagement and lack of coordination between the concerned authorities.
Most of the canals, which snake through the city, have been filled up with garbage, sedimentation and encroachment deterring the excess flow of water during monsoon.
Many residents are migrating to other parts of the city to avoid the apocalypse.
