He was speaking on the development on the interrogation of Sohel Mahfuz, a key militant police believes to be involved in the attack, at a press briefing.
Sohel allegedly supplied firearms and explosives for the Holey Artisan Café attack in Gulshan. He is one of the prime accused in a case over the 2014 Burdwan blast in India.
The forensics reports of the Holey Artisan Café attackers are already in possession of police and the case is now at its final stage, Mia said in a programme at the DMP headquarters.
“Sohel Mahfuz was an active militant and also has contacts and connections in the neigbouring country, we are trying to find out more through questioning him,” the Dhaka police chief said.
“We believe we are getting the right information from him,” Mia added.
Twenty hostages, mostly foreigners, and two policemen were killed in the café attack in Dhaka’s diplomatic upscale eatery on July 1 – an incident first of its kind in Bangladesh.
