Waterlogging won’t recur next year: LGRD minister
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain today said waterlogging in Dhaka city will not recur next year as the government has taken a lesson from this year.
“Such waterlogging phenomenon will not recur in the next year as we will take due measures from this lesson,” he told the reporters this afternoon after emerging from the annual conference of deputy commissioners at the secretariat.
Asked about the government initiatives in the wake of severe waterlogging in Dhaka including today’s knee-deep water inside the secretariat, the LGRD minister said, he has instructed Dhaka WASA to excavate city’s 18 canals immediately out of the total 46.
