‘AL to blame for violence on women, children’
BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed today expressed grave concern over increasing repression on women and children in the country and held the ruling quarter responsible for it.
“Awami League family members are carrying out repression on women and children and now it is going on in an extreme pace. Bogra town unit workers’ front leader Tufan Sarkar just projected a sample of the government’s misdeed,” Moudud said.
The former law minister was addressing a discussion organised by National Peoples’ Party at the National Press Club in Dhaka this noon.
Terming the Bogra rape as an unbelievable incident, Moudud said, “What an impossible barbarism and heinous incident it is! Why such an incident is happening?”
Claiming that the government has no accountability to the people, Moudud said the prevailing trend will go on until the term of the ruling Awami League.
Presenting the statistics prepared by Mohila Parishad and right organisation Adhikar on women and children repression, Moudud said: “Everyday, at least five women and children are repressed in the country. Can we imagine where our society has reached?
Mentioning that there is no law and order in the country, Moudud said the government is training police and Rapid action Battalion to repress and oppress its political opponents.
