A Swechchhasebak League leader was hacked to death by a gang of criminals in Arappur bus stand area of the town yesterday.

Feroz Hossain, 32, son of Ansar Ali, was organising secretary of ward No 8 of the organisation in the municipality.

Police and locals said the criminals hacked Feroz indiscriminately near Chandpara mosque while he was going to the town after having lunch. Locals rushed him to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.

Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Imdadul Haque said Feroz might have been killed due to previous enmity. 

District Swechchhasebak League General Secretary Manwar Hossain Badsha demanded exemplary punishment to the killers of Feroz.
