Shafiul, Sanjit impress at Tigers' practice game

Shafiul Islam bags five wickets in the practice match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong before Mushfiqur's Xi declares with the score at 140 for nine.

The Tigers are playing a three-day practice match and the squad has been divided into two playing XI’s with Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal captaining the sides.

The Practice game was delayed due to rain and the game started at 12.40 pm instead of 9.30 am.

Mushfiqur’s XI chose to bat first with Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes as openers.

New batting consultant had earlier expressed his belief about Soumya’s natural game and ensured the sharp edge of the left hander's technique. The opener however fell after scoring just one run – edging a Shafiul delivery to the slip.

Imrul Kayes was next to go – he gifted a catch to Liton Kumar Das and departed for five runs – Shafiul the wicket taker.

Shafiul struck again when he removed Mahmudullah Riyad for naught – out bowled.

Shaiul Islam, who was out of international cricket for a long time, took his three wickets within 4.5 overs conceding just 8 runs.

Sanjit Saha -- who was included in the training camp keeping Australia's Nathan Lyon in mind – picked up two wickets. He took the prized wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim – out caught and bowled for 30.

Nazmul Hasan, who scored 53 was also out to the young spinner.

Shafiul then came back to the attack and captured Rubel Hossain's wicket. Taijul Islam who was batting at 26 also fell to Shafiul.

With nine wickets gone, Mushfiq declared their innings.
