Mayor Annisul now 'out of danger'
The condition of Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq, admitted to a hospital in central London, is stable.
He is kept in close observation, AKM Mizanur Rahman, assistant personal secretary of the mayor told The Daily Star yesterday evening.
Contacted, his wife Rubana Haq said he was suffering from cerebral vasculitis, which was not detected in Dhaka. He had been experiencing occasional spells of dizziness for the last two months.
“This is because his brain blood vessels were inflamed,” she said, adding that the mayor is currently in Intensive Care Unit.
The doctors put him on steroid and other medication, she added.
The mayor went to London on July 29 and was admitted to the hospital on August 13.
Rubana sought people's blessings for Annisul's early recovery.
Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Dhaka Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee yesterday offered a special prayer at Dhakeshwari National Temple seeking the mayor's quick recovery.
Annisul took oath as mayor of DNCC on May 6, 2015.
