Shujan calls for ‘no vote’, army for polls
Civil society platform Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan) today called for the inclusion of “no vote” and army deployment for the next parliamentary election.
In a press conference arranged this morning, it also called upon the Election Commission to redraw the electoral constituencies according to population ratio.
Shujan’s President M Hafiz Uddin Khan and Secretary Badiul Alam Majumder were present in the press conference organised at Jatiya Press Club.
The January 5, 2014 general election was controversial, said Badiul Alam Majumder. “We cannot afford to hold another controversial election,” he said.
“A free, fair, acceptable and inclusive election is very important for the greater interest of all of us and for the interest of the country,” Badiul added pointing towards the next election.
Shujan President M Hafizuddin Khan said: “Bangaldesh will turn into a country like North Korea if we cannot restore democracy in the country.”
