Prisoner who fled from DMCH police custody held
Prison guards have detained the drug case accused, who escaped from police custody in Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) earlier in the day.
Sujon was held by a team of central jail security men from his ancestral home in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka around 1:30pm today, Jahangir Kabir, senior jail super of Dhaka Central Jail, told The Daily Star.
“Being informed of the incident, one of our teams arrested him from his ancestral home in Dhamrai where he went into hiding,” Kabir said.
2 prison guards suspended
Meanwhile, the central jail authorities also suspended two prison guards --Sujon and Alamin-- for negligence in discharging their duties, the jail super also said.
The accused, arrested in a drug case in Dhamrai, was sent to DMCH and later admitted to the burn unit for treatment yesterday noon, Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, told The Daily Star.
But he [the prisoner] fled from a ward on the third floor of the hospital around 4:00am, the police official said.
