Lightning in Savar: Death toll rises to 6

Three more bodies were recovered from Bonshi river in Katlapur area of Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, today, a day after a thunderbolt struck passengers of a trawler in the river.

With this, the death toll from the lightning stood at six.

Informed by locals, firefighters recovered the bodies of Minoti Rani, Mahela Begum and Dipu from the river around 2:30pm, Liton Ahmed, senior station officer of Savar Fire Service, told our local correspondent.

The thunderbolt struck around 150 people who were crossing the river by a trawler.
