Warner stands tall as Australia reach 109 for 2
At close of play Bangladesh would be wondering what could have happened if Smith was not dropped.
Warner has been positive from the outset. The partnership between the two stands at 81 from 124 balls. Australia need another 156 for victory. Tigers will need a really good first session tomorrow if they want to win this Test.
End of over 30 (Warner 75 not out, Smith 25 not out)
29.6 over, Aus 109/2 - Warner tucks the final ball of the day for a single off Taijul Islam. That brings an end to day three of the first Test between Bangladesh and Australia.
Warner has raced to 72 from 90 balls. He has looked to take the game away from Bangladesh as play nears end. One more over to go.
27.6, Aus 105/2 - Lovely drive from Smith through extra cover off Mehedi. Ball races away for four.
25.6, Aus 100/2 - Smith pulls one through deep mid wicket for a single and that brings up the hundred for Australia.
25.4 overs, Aus 98/2 - Short from Mehedi and Warner does not hesitate to dispatch it square of mid-on for four.
End of over 25
Partnership btween Warner and Smith is now 61from 88 deliveries. Shakib Al Hasan comes back into the attack.
22.1 overs, Aus 89/2 - Mehedi flights one and Warner goes after it. Brilliant work in the outfield. The batsmen run three.
Taijul has been re-introduced to the attack. Australia need a further 184 runs for victory. Taijul is getting some nice turn and bounce. Anything short is going to be punished by Warner, so he needs to get the trajectory right.
It would take something special to get Warner out today. He is looking solid out there.
20.1 overs, Aus 73/2 - Mustafizur Rahman is introduced to the attack and Warner cuts him for four to welcome the fast bowler to the crease.
End of over 20 (Warner 50 not out, Smith 10 not out)
19.5 overs, Aus 69/2 - Warner plays it square on the onside and takes a single to reach his 50. Brilliant batting from the Australia vice-captain.
Warner is looking increasingly dangerous as Australia now need only 198 for victory. Warner has reached 49 off just 63 deliveries, hitting eight boundaries and a six. This third-wicket partnership has already yielded 39 very important runs for Australia.
17.3 overs, Aus 64/2 - Warner comes down the wicket and drives Taijul through the covers for four.
End of over 15
14.1 overs, Aus 51/2 - Warner cuts late with a deft touch off Mehedi. Ball runs away for four through third man region.
13.1 over, Aus 44/2 - Warner hits Shakib for six over long on. Comes down the track and dispatches it.
12.5 - Smith not looking comfortable here. He turns a ball straight into square leg, Imrul Kayes, but the ball does not stick. Unlike Soumya's drop off Warner, more luck than skill was required for Smith to be out.
10.1 - It could have been game and set for Bangladesh as Smith was walking off after a ball from Mehedi zipped past his outside edge and keeper Mushfiqur Rahim whipped off the bails. The umpire called for the third umpire and Smith stopped at square leg. Television replays suggest that the foot was slightly behind the line. Is this the only chance that arguably the best player of spin in the world will give the Tigers?
9.2 overs - Usman Khawaja's terrible match continues as he tries to sweep Shakib and gets a top edge to fine leg, where Taijul takes a good catch.
UT Khawaja c Taijul Islam b Shakib Al Hasan 1 (6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 16.66
8.2 overs - Mehedi draws first blood! A straighter one has Renshaw playing for the turn. The ball beats the insiude edge and thuds into the pad beneath the roll. Looked pretty plumb. Renshaw thinks about reviewing, but walks off after talking to Warner.
MT Renshaw lbw b Mehidy Hasan Miraz 5 (20b 0x4 0x6) SR: 25.00
7.3 overs - Shakib Al Hasan comes in and creates a chance straight away. The ball zips ff the surface and catches the edge of Warner's flashing blade, but Soumya Sarkar is once again too slow to react at slip as the ball bursts through his hands at hed height and goes to the third man fence. Could be a costly drop.
5.3 overs - Matt Renshaw pushes with his bat to Nasir Hossain, who opened the bowling with fellow off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz, and Bangladesh go up in appeal thinking the ball has gone off the boot to silly point. Umpire Aleem Dar reviews, and it is shown to hit the ground.
End of over 5 - Aus 10/0 (Warner 9 not out, Renshaw 1 not out): Australia negotiate the first five overs from Mehedi Hasan and Nasir Hossain quietly. David Warner hit two boundaries in the first over from Mehedi, but there has been just two runs in four over since.
A lead of 264 for Bangladesh and a 265-run winning target for Australia. Both teams will have to fight tooth and nail to win. Australia have to score the highest total of the match on a pitch that is deteriorating. Bangladesh have to ensure that Steven Smith and David Warner don't get off to starts, otherwise things may become very difficult very soon.
79.3 - Mehedi Hasan Miraz tries to blast Nathan Lyon over the leg side fence, but +only manages to find the square leg fielder as Bangladesh's innings ends on 221. Lyon has six for 82.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz c Khawaja b Lyon 26 (35b 4x4 0x6) SR: 74.28
77.5 - But Lyon has his revenge and his five-wicket haul off the very next ball, getting Shafiul out caught at short leg.
Shafiul Islam c Handscomb b Lyon 9 (28b 0x4 1x6) SR: 32.14
77.4 - Shafiul Islam swings with the spin and deposits the ball over long on for six big ones.
76.3 - Mehedi Hasan Miraz nudges the ball to the off side and takes off for a single, taking the score to 207 for eight, which means that Bangladesh lead by 250 runs.
End of over 74 - Bangladesh 205 for 8 at tea (Mehedi 17 not out, Shafiul 2 not out): 72 runs scored in the afternoon session for the loss of five wickets. Taken in isolation that is Australia's session. But in the context of the match, with the pitch looking more and more unfriendly towards batsmen looking to spend time in the middle, Bangladesh's lead of 248 runs seems formidable. The highest total in this match has been 260 in Bangladesh's first innings, and batting has gotten progressively difficult since then. Bangladesh will feel that they need at least 20 more runs to feel comfortable about defending and winning their first Test against Australia.
70.6 - Mehedi wanted a single when he paddled a full toss down to fine leg, but there is no fielder there and that brings up the third boundary of the over. Interesting that he's looking to farm the strike.
70.2 - Mehedi the dose for another boundary. The message is clear... score as many runs as quickly as possible before the pitch gets you.
70.1 - Mehedi Hasan Miraz goes down on one knee and slog sweeps Agar through meedwicket for four.
End of over 70 - Bangladesh lead by 229 runs with two wickets in hand. Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Shafiul at the crease.
69.1 overs, BD 186/8 - Bat-pad from Shabbir off Lyon. Easy catch to Handscomb at silly point.

Nasir Hossain c Wade b Agar 0 (4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
Mushfiq leaves after a good innings. That was an unfortunate way to get out. Bangladesh lead by 229.
67.5 overs, BD 186/6 - What a tragic way to get out! Shabbir Smashes Lyon straight down the ground but the bowler gets a hand to the ball which hits the stump at the opposite end. Mushfiq was out of his crease and that's out.
Mushfiqur Rahim run out (Lyon) 41 (114b 1x4 1x6) SR: 35.96
65.6 overs, BD 179/5 - Lyon's floater beats Mushfiq for flight. Hits it too early but ball falls short of the man at mid on.
End of over 65
64.6 overs, BD 178/5 Agar to Mushfiq. Ball hits Musfiq on the md ribs. Shouts from Australians for lbw. They go for the review. The third upmire has given not out. The ball was pitching outside off.
Mushfiq has moved to 37 runs and his partnership with Sabbir Rahman stands at 35 runs.
63.3, BD 177/5 - Mushfiq has been dropped by his counterpart Steve Smith! Mushfiq plays a late cut but the ball catches the edge. Smith can't quite reach it in time. Close call for Mushfiq. The batsmen run two.
62.1 overs, BD 172/5 - Agar releases a quicker one but it goes down the leg side. Ball races towards the boundary for four. Byes signalled.

End of over 60
59.3, BD 160/5 - Sabbir reverse-sweeps Lyon through backward point on the off-side for four. Risky shot but gets away with it.
57.6 overs, BD 154/5 - Shabbir does his thing. Smashes Lyon over mid-on for six!
Australia have come out on top again in this session. Two very important wickets of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan will surely help them to curtail Bangladesh's overall lead. The lead currrently stands at 188 runs. Shabbir Rahman arrives to the crease.
55.5 overs, BD 143/5 - Shakib looks to go after Lyon again after hitting a boundary two balls earlier. This time he doesn't quite get to the pitch of the delivery. Ball loops up in the air and doesn't clear the infield. Pat Cummins takes an easy catch.
Shakib Al Hasan c Cummins b Lyon 5 (11b 1x4 0x6) SR: 45.45
End of over 55
Pat Cummins brought the breakthrough after a successful
Shakib Al Hasan is the new batsman at the crease. This Test match never ceases to amaze. Tamim had been batting with a lot of confidence and responsibilty. Took an unplayable delivery to get him out. Tamim leaves with his score again in the 70's.
52.1 overs, BD 135/4 - Hazzlewood to Tamim - what a scorcher of a delivery. Almost unplayable but Aussies appeal and then go for the review. Third upmire checks...it looks like the ball took a slight nick as per the snick-o-metre evidence. Tamim has been given out.
Tamim Iqbal c Wade b Cummins 78 (155b 8x4 0x6) SR: 50.32
We are back after lunch. Usman Khawaja bowled the first over after lunch. Lyon has been introduced from the other end. We are seeing a more defensive minded field setup when Tamim is on strike.
Lyon is bowling to Mushfiqur from round the wicket. He possibly has the drifter in mind and the regular off-spinner
End of over 50
That's lunch on day three of the first Test match.

It's really been a fantastic day for cricket. The sun is simmering down on the wicket with hints of rain clouds here and there, flying over Dhaka.
The heat could play a part in this Test match. The Aussies aren't used to the humidity in this part of the world.
End of over 40
Lyon has flighted the ball well and got some extra bounce going for him. It's important that Bangladesh batsmen put some doubt in his mind.
Bangladesh will be looking to take the attack to Australia with the lead now 133 runs. What they must not forget is that this is only the third day of this Test match. It is not even lunch yet and Bangladesh need to ensure they play through today.
37.2 overs, BD 89/3 - Wonderful, wonderful shot from Mushfiq. Hits Lyon high and handsome for six! Good use of the feet and this time there was no unconventional wisdom in his shot selection. Ball flies over mid on for six.
Tamim Iqbal at the other end has been really solid. He has negotiated the spinners and the pacers with merit. It's been a patient knock.
