Put pressure on Myanmar, Fakhrul to govt
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today underscored the need for immediate solution of Rohingya crisis and urged the government to put pressure on Myanmar with the help of international community to resolve the issue.
“We want quick solution of the Rohingya crisis. Our government should put pressure on Myanmar. It (govt) can talk to the United Nations to put an end to the crisis,” Fakhrul said while talking to reporters at his Uttara residence in Dhaka this afternoon.
PM Hasina will have to stay aside from her post before election
Fakhrul wants dissolution of the parliament and step down of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from her post for the sake of holding of the next general election in fair manner.
Fakhrul said there is no instance of holding a transparent and credible election under a political management in the country’s history.
“It is impossible to keep mum during election for such a powerful person like Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. And thus, we demand for dissolving the parliament and stepping down of the prime minister before the polls,” he added.
BNP does not want recurrence of any violent situation in the country ahead of the election, he said calling upon the government to take steps for holding dialogue to fix the polls-time administration.
The government will have to give up its egotism and it is now very essential for the continuation of democratic process, the BNP leader said.
