Fourth death in Tangail cop firing
A fourth victim of Friday’s clash between villagers and police in Tangail succumbed to his bullet wounds at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) today.
Rubel, 19, who was admitted to the DMCH with bullet injuries in his head, died around 7:00pm, Inspector Mozammel Haque of DMCH police camp told The Daily Star.
Faruk Hossain, father of the deceased, told reporters in front of the hospital that his son was a student of the Open University’s HSC programme, adding that Rubel had been doing flexi load business in Kalihati upazila.
On September 18, three people were shot dead in Kalihati upazila of Tangail as police opened fire during a clash with locals protesting the brutal assault of a woman and her son. The incident also left at least 32 others, including three cops, injured.
