'Barring BNP relief team abuse of state power'
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has condemned the government for “obstructing” its central relief team from going to Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar to provide humanitarian assistance to Rohingya refugees.
Terming the government’s action as an abuse of state power, the BNP chief last night tweeted, “Govt’s obstacle to BNP’s help to displaced Rohingya is an abuse of state power for selfish ends. It deserves the strongest condemnation.”

A BNP delegation led by the party’s Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas went to Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday to provide humanitarian aid to the Rohingya refugees.
The team was scheduled to visit the Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhia and give medicine, food and other humanitarian aids to the refugees, who have fled the alleged ethnic cleansing in Rakhine state of Myanmar.
The party alleged that the Ukhia administration barred its central relief team along with the consignment of relief materials from reaching the spot.
