Quader accuses China of double standard
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today blasted China accusing the country of having double standards over Rohingya issue.
"China is sending relief for Rohingyas. At the same time, it is supporting Myanmar. This is double standard that cannot be supported," Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said.
Referring to media reports, Quader said China and Russia took position in favour of Myanmar in the open discussion of United Nations Security Council meeting.
Terming the stand sorrowful, Quader expressed hope that China and Russia would backtrack from such stance and stand beside Bangladesh and help put an end to the Rohingya crisis.
The minister said: "Their (China and Russia) role exposed in the UN Security Council meeting over the Rohingya issue is not their final stand. I believe both the countries would change their positions on humanitarian and logical ground."
Quader was visiting Dhakeshawari temple marking the Durga puja and exchanging greeting with people of the Hindu community on this occasion.
