Revolutionary leader Jasim Uddin given guard of honour
Revolutionary leader Jasim Uddin was given the guard of honour at the Central Shaheed Minar premises in Dhaka this morning.
The veteran communist leader breathed his last around 6:00am yesterday at Health and Hope Hospital at Panthapath, where he had been under treatment since September 28.
Jasim Uddin’s body was brought to the Central Shaheed Minar from the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) office so that people from all walks of life could pay homage to him.
“Comrade Jasim Uddin always worked for the people and we will always remember him with our utmost respect,” CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim told The Daily Star.
Eminent politicians and cultural activists including Matia Chowdhury, Nurul Islam Nahid, Professor Akhteruzzaman, Syed Hassan Imam, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Kamal Lohani were present there among others.
His body will be taken to his village home in Pabna tomorrow and laid to rest in their family graveyard.
