No place for militants on Bangladesh soil: Rab chief
Militants will get no place on Bangladesh soil even if they enter the country as Rohingya refugees, Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) Benazir Ahmed said today.
The Rab DG said this while talking to reporters during inauguration of a Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar, reports our local correspondent.
The law enforcers are strictly monitoring whether members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), an armed group in Myanmar, are entering into Bangladesh as Rohingya refugees, Benazir said, adding that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given clear order in this regard.
He also distributed relief materials to the new arrivals at the unregistered Rohingya camp in Leda area of Teknaf.
Meanwhile, a team of Rab-7 in Cox's Bazar today arrested a suspected militant from near Palangkhali Rohingya camp in Ukhia upazila.
On information, the Rab team led by Squadron Leader Shafayat Jamil and Major Moinul Islam detained a computer servicing shop owner, Kamal Hossain.
Kamal Hossain was later handed over to Ukhia Police Station and a case has been filed against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act with the police station, Benazir said.
