The death toll from the October 8 Rohingya boat capsize reached 37 as three more bodies of Rohingya women were recovered from the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early today.

Police recovered the bodies from the Bay after locals informed them around 2:30am, our Cox's Bazar staff correspondent reports quoting Mainuddin Khan, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.

The bodies were buried at the nearest graveyard in the upazila this morning.

The boat capsize took place while it carrying 50 to 60 Rohingyas entered Bangladesh on October 8. The Rohingyas were fleeing into the country following persecution in Myanmar.

Our correspondent said that at least 159 Rohingyas were killed in separate boat capsize incidents while they were fleeing to Bangladesh since August 25.

A total of 25 incidents of boat capsize took places in the Bay so far since then.
