A brilliant 168 from Quinton de Kock, who was ably partnered by Hashim Amla at the other end saw South Africa chase down Bangladesh's total of 278 in just 42.5 overs. Amla striuck 110 from 112 deliveries as South Africa were in cruise control from the moment the chase started.

The pair made a new record when they reached 253, which was the highest opening partnership by a South African pair.

The Bangladesh total of 278 had looked pretty formidable but South Africa got their with 43 balls and 10 wickets to spare.

He beats the edge of de kock's bat but the left-hander improvises next ball and scoops the youngster and the ball almost went for six. South Africa are scoring at 6.27 runs per over. The pair have made the Bangladesh attack look miserable.

Tigers need a breakthrough badly as South Africa look to chase down the target as quickly as possible.

The Proteas will be bolstered by the return of AB de Villiers and JP Duminy into the side. Tigers have their backs on the wall having lost the two-Test series. Further bad news followed as ace quick Mustafizur Rahman will not feature in the first ODI. Mustafizur twisted his ankle during warm-up on Saturday.

However the biggest set back is that Tamim Iqbal is set to miss the first ODI as well. Tamim is yet to fully recover from the thigh muscle tear that he suistained in the three-day warm-up match in Benoni on September 21.

Tamim was seen walking around in a jacket before the toss while the rest of the team were warming up playing football.
