Debutants Prasidh, Suchith star in four-wicket win
Karnataka beat the visiting Bangladesh A side by four wickets after staving off a late fightback on the third and final day of their match in Mysore. The win served as ideal preparation for the new Ranji Trophy season, which begins on October 1, for the defending champions.
Set a target of 181, captain CM Gautam and allrounder Shreyas Gopal made 49 and an unbeaten 40 respectively to guide the chase in 40.5 overs.
Al-Amin Hossain and Saqlain Sajib took two wickets each with the latter finishing the game with six wickets.
Karnataka took early control of the game when they bowled Bangladesh A out for 158. Prasidh Krishna, the 19-year old pace bowler, took five wickets on his first-class debut. Liton Das and Shuvagata Hom struck fifties but found little support from the rest of the XI.
Although they slipped to 100 for 6 on the first day itself, Karnataka went on to take a 151-run first innings lead with Shishir Bhavane top-scoring with 88. Shuvagata and Sajib took four wickets each.
Bangladesh A batted far better in their second innings. Anamul Haque made 89 and there was another fifty from Shuvagata but they were bowled out for 309 runs. Left-arm spinner J Suchith, also on first-class debut, took six wickets while offspinner Udit Patel picked up two wickets.
Bangladesh A take on India A in a one-off unofficial Test in Bangalore from September 27, which will also be their last game on tour.
