Detectives today arrested two youths for allegedly killing their friend at Botanical Garden in Dhaka six months ago.

A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Shamim Mirdha, 20, and Sadhin, 24, today following a two-day special drive in the capital, Sahadat Hossain, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of DB, told The Daily Star.

Victim Abul Kalam, 21, went for a hangout with the duo at the Botanical Garden and was stabbed to death by them there on April 13.

Later, they kept the body hidden inside a bush of the garden and came back home. But they went back to the garden again and brought it to Shamim’s house in the capital’s Mirpur. Then they buried the body under his bed so that no one got trace of the body, the police official said.

According to police, the victim’s elder brother Abu Bashar first filed a general diary with Rupnagar Police Station after Kalam went missing. Later, the GD turned into an abduction case.

During interrogation, Shamim and Sadhin told detectives that they had friendship with Kalam for last eight years. Sadhin took Tk 50,000 as loan from Kalam a few months back and a conflict rose between them over returning the money, AC Sahadat said.
