Danish envoy urges int’l support on Rohingya issue
Danish minister for development cooperation, Ulla Tornaes has called upon the international community to support Bangladesh over the Rohingya issue.
"Bangladesh has performed a great task by receiving this huge number of refugees," she noted, said a press statement issued from Embassy of Denmark.
"But now, it is very important that the international community steps up to support Bangladesh," the Danish minister added.
Ulla Tornaes made the remarks after visiting Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar. She had arrived in Bangladesh yesterday and left this afternoon.
According to the United Nations, more than 600,000 Rohingyas have fled Myanmar following persecution in the Rakhine state on August 25 earlier this year.
