Graft: 3 doctors land in Dinajpur jail
A Dinajpur court today sent three doctors of M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital to jail in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission in 2015.
The accused are Dr M Abu Bakar Siddique, Dr MBM Iqbal and Dr Md Siddqur. They are all former directors of the hospital.
Judge of Dinajpur Senior Special Judge’s court Hossain Sarwardhi passed the order after they surrendered before the court seeking bail in the case, reports our local correspondent quoting Hasan Ali Public, a prosecutor of the court.
However, another accused the case, Moksedur Islam, a supplier of medical appliances of the hospital, secured bail in the case.
Medical appliances’ supplier Moksedur Islam and the three physicians embezzled Tk 74,98,825 from the hospital without purchasing any medical instrument in 2014.
Later, Amirul Islam, assistant director of ACC in Dinjapur, filed the case with Dinajpur Sadar Police Station on August 26, 2015.
On April 12 this year, Dinajpur Medical College Hospital was renamed as M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.
