4 killed in Dinajpur road crash
Four people, including two women, were killed as a pickup van rammed a battery-run easy-bike on Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur this morning.
All the deceased -- Amulya Chandra Roy, 60, Susila Roy, 50, Rangila Bala, 45, and Haburam Roy -- hailed from Jaldhaka upazila of Nilpharmari and Gangachara upazila of Rangpur districts, our local correspondent reports quoting Officer-in-Charge of Birganj Police Station Abu Akkas Ali.
The accident took place around 6:30am when the pickup van hit the oncoming easy-bike in Salbagan area, leaving its four passengers dead on the spot, he said.
The deceased heading towards Kantaji Temple in Danjpur to attend Ras festival scheduled to start today, the OC said.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Later, the bodies were handed over to their family members, added the police official.
Besides, eight people were injured when the pickup van hit two rickshaws while fleeing the scene after the accident.
