US envoy Shannon to meet Khaleda

Visiting US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas A Shannon will call on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia tomorrow morning.

The visit is scheduled at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office at 10:45am where US ambassador to Bangladesh, Marcia Bernicat, will also be attending.

Shamsuddin Dider, an officer of Khaleda’s press wing, confirmed The Daily Star of the development. A specific agenda of the meeting could not be obtained.

Shannon is in Dhaka with a US delegation for the US-Bangladesh Partnership Dialogue. He is scheduled to leave Dhaka tomorrow.

Also on the BNP chief’s schedule tomorrow, is another meeting with Canadian delegation, slated for 7:30pm in the evening, at the same venue.
