20 killed in Texas Church shooting
At least 20 people were killed in a shooting at a Texas church yesterday, US media reported.
ABC News cited a law enforcement official as saying 20 were killed and 30 wounded in the shooting.
Other media outlets were citing unnamed officials who gave death tolls as high as 27, reports AFP.
The shooting took place at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, a small community about 30 miles (50 kilometers) southeast of San Antonio.
The shooter was killed after a brief chase, reports CNN quoting the sheriff of the county.
Officials say the suspect fled the scene of the shooting in Wilson County and was killed after a brief chase north into neighbouring Guadalupe County.
However, it's not clear if the shooter was killed by police or took his own life, according Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office spokesman Robert Murphy.
Officials were yet to identify the shooter.
US President Donald Trump — who is on a 13-day trip though Asia —tweeted about the Texas church shooting.
“May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI & law enforcement are on the scene. I am monitoring the situation from Japan,” he tweeted.
