Since parents abandoned her in a private hospital of Chittagong on August 13, doctors, nurses and staff have been taking care of the baby. Her mother, who came to the hospital with “her husband” on August 10, gave birth to the baby girl the very evening. After a normal delivery the underweight baby was shifted to Neonatal ICU of the hospital. On August 13, the “father” left saying he needed to withdraw money from bank and never returned. A notice put up by the Dhaka South City Corporation in front of the ghat (landing spot) of this pond is quite straightforward. It says: fishing, washing clothes and bathing is completely prohibited, and necessary lawful measures will be taken if found disregarding the notice. While people continue to partake in all of the above, the city corporation hardly takes any step to stop this.
