Drive against unfit Dhaka buses Nov 19

Authorities will launch a month-long crack down on unfit buses in Dhaka city from November 19.

Dhaka South City Corporation took the decision, aimed to curb traffic jam in southern part of the city, at a meeting of the coordination committee today.

Mobile courts will be stationed at several key points in the city during the month-long drive, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon said.

The Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (traffic), Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Department of Environment will run the drive against the unfit vehicles. 

Alongside, the DSCC will run another drive against illegal rickshaws soon, the mayor said.

The authorities also start a drive against illegal encroaching in front of shops and buildings from December, said Rajuk Chairman Abdur Rahman, who was also present in the meeting.
