The Flight of Rainbows
Have you ever seen a rainbow fly? There is a place in the port city for one to witness just that. Here, the slightest disturbance will awaken the ground and the trees, as butterflies of many colours take to the sky; with the light against their wings producing rainbows whilst their many hues merging to form another gigantic one! On 15 Naval Academy Road of Patenga in Chittagong, one finds the well-known 'Butterfly Park and Resort', an escape bestowed with a beauty that only these winged beings can bring.A visitors' attraction since its inauguration in 2008, the park boasts around 20 different species of butterflies. However, to dazzle the spectators isn't the only motive here. There is also a museum, where butterflies are mummified for further studies with additional educational information provided on them. The Park authority rears the creatures from when they are only larvae to becoming caterpillars and finally sprouting wings as they break-free of their cocoons. Free for infants, discounted prices for children and only a 100 taka for adults, the parks provides a window to a world where most poets find their muse.
