India struggle on Day 2 before rain stops play

Sri Lanka fast bowler Dasun Shanaka struck twice before rain halted India's innings on the second day of the first Test on Friday with the hosts struggling on 74-5.

Overnight batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, batting on 47, and wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, on six, were at the crease when rain interrupted play.

Shanaka returned figures of 2-23 in eight overs with first-day hero and fellow paceman Suranga Lakmal (3-5) conceding his first runs of the innings on a cloudy morning session.

Lakmal claimed three Indian wickets, including that of skipper Virat Kohli, in the 11.5 overs that were possible on a weather-hit opening day of the three-match series.
