Ex-deputy speaker Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui passes away
Former Deputy Speaker of the parliament Md Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui died at a private hospital in Dhaka today at the age of 71.
Md Akhtar Hamid Siddiqui, also a BNP leader, breathed his last at United Hospital in the capital’s Gulshan area around 12:15pm.
He left behind his wife, two sons and one daughter, and relatives to mourn his death.
The first namaz-e-janaza of the former deputy speaker will be held at 5:30pm in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's media wing spokesman Syrul Kabir Khan told The Daily Star.
His second namaz-e-janaza will be held tomorrow at Jatiya Sangsad premises, Syrul also said, adding that Akhtar Hamid will be buried in Naogaon.
