Draft rules for lower court judges sent to SC
The law ministry has forwarded a draft on the disciplinary rules for lower court judges for the consideration of Supreme Court, Law Minister Anisul Huq said today.
After the apex court’s scrutiny, it will be forwarded to President Abdul Hamid and if he approves, a gazette notification will be issued in this regard, the minister said.
The minister was talking to reporters after chairing a programme organised for conclusion of a training the lower court judges at the Judicial Administration Planning Institute in Dhaka.
So far, the Supreme Court has given 26 time extensions to the government for submitting the draft rules for lower court judges. The next date of hearing over the issue is on December 3.
Replying to a query, Minister Anisul Huq said the process for appointing judges to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will be initiated soon.
Asked about former chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, the minister said the Anti-Corruption Commission will decide the next course of action over the allegation brought against him.
He hoped that the lawyers of the Anti-Corruption Commission will give appropriate advise to the commission for taking necessary steps on this issue.
