Judicial conference tomorrow
The National Judicial Conference-2017 will be held tomorrow for discussing all the relevant issues regarding the judiciary including backlog of cases, digitalisation and effective court administration and case management.
Supreme Court has arranged the daylong function under a theme “Justice for all” which will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka, Barrister Mohammad Saifur Rahman, a special officer at the Supreme Court, told The Daily Star today.
President Md Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the conference as the chief guest.
Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, who is now discharging the responsibilities of the chief justice, will preside over the inaugural programme where Law Minister Anisul Huq, Law Secretary ASSM Zahirul Haque, SC’s acting registrar general Md Zakir Hossain and General Secretary (in charge) of Judicial Service Association Bikash Kumar Saha, among others, will speak.
Judges from the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the SC and lower courts across the country are expected to attend the function.
Meanwhile, Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah will exchange view with the district judges and the officials with the rank equivalent to district judges and will deliver a speech to them at the Supreme Court on Sunday, Saifur Rahman said.
He also informed that President Abdul Hamid will host a dinner for the judges of the Appellate and High Court Divisions and the district judges and the officials with the rank equivalent to district judges at Bangabhaban at Sunday night.
