Farhin Khan Joyita

Farhin Khan Joyita was born in a family of high cultural pedigree, with her mother being the renowned Rabindra Sangeet exponent Mita Haque and her father the 'Juboraj' of Bangladeshi theatre, Khaled Khan. However, she has carved her own path with her technically sound and soulful singing which is appreciated by all in the industry and beyond. Star Showbiz talks to the brilliant singer on her current projects, passion for music and much more!

Tell us about your first time on stage.

My mother urged me to perform in a function in her music school. Needless to say, I was very nervous but somehow I pulled it off! I was very little at that time.

What are your most recent projects?

This year, my album named Koto Modhumire came out and it was produced by Bengal Foundation. It was a Rabindra Sangeet album and was received very well by critics. Previously, 3 of my albums had come out from Bhavna Records. At the moment, I am busy with stage shows and my own music school. I'm also thinking about making another solo album!

Who are your inspirations?

This will sound a bit cliché, but whoever loves me is my inspiration! I am grateful to everyone who has loved and supported my work throughout the years and they are the reason that I continue to do what I do.

What do you like to do besides music?

I love cooking, travelling and being involved in 'addas' with the people I love.

Describe yourself in one word.

Clumsy! (Laughs)

Tell us about your future plans in music.

To be honest, all I want to do is sing and nothing else. Everything I have done is related to music, and I have taught music in the Bangladesh Film and Television Academy (BFTA). At the moment, I am busy with my own music school. I am also learning how to play the piano. I have done playback for two songs, and will do more in the future if I get the opportunity. For me, music is life and life is music!
