Rangpur city polls a test for EC: Ershad

Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad said that today’s Rangpur City Corporation elections are a test for the Election Commission.

So, the EC is bound to hold the election in free and fair manner, the Jatiya Party chief told reporters after casting his vote at Senpara Shishu Mongol Government Primary School in Rangpur in the morning.

“So far, the elections have been very peaceful. And the decision of the people will be the final decision,” the former president also said.

“There are no irregularities here till now and we hope to win with a difference of lakhs of votes,” Ershad added.

Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party are fighting the battle of ballots to win the mayoral race in Rangpur City Corporation polls.

The Rangpur city polls have attracted people's attention as the three major political parties are trying to ensure win for their mayoral candidates.

Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Kawsar Zaman Babla and Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa have been contesting the polls from the AL, BNP and Jatiya Party respectively.
