5 detective-impersonating kidnappers held

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed detention of five members of a kidnapping gang, who used to operate impersonating as detectives, from Gazipur Chowrasta.

The detainees were identified as Md Alauddin Ali,35, Md Nayan Molla,28, Md Khokon Dhali,30, Md Altaf Hosen, 30, and Md Kaochhar Mondol,25, said a Rab press release.

Rab-2 members also seized foreign pistols, bullets, Detective Branch (DB) uniforms and a vehicle from their possession during their operation at 1:30pm yesterday.

The arrestees, during primary investigation, admitted of being involved in kidnapping, hijacking and extortion inside Dhaka by identifying themselves as DB.
