Bangladesh to accord highest honour to 58 cops
Bangladesh will be according the highest honour, Bangladesh Police Medal, to 58 police officers working in the force and other agencies in the upcoming Police Week-2018.
Alongside, 124 other police officials will be awarded the President Police Medal, in the categories of courageous performance, expertise and dedication to their duties.
Md Moniruzzaman Chowdhury, senior assistant superintendent of police (CID), told The Daily Star that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the recognitions at Police Week-2018, starting on January 8.
Rapid Action Battalion's intelligence wing director Lt Col Abul Kalam Azad, Chowdhury Abu Mohammad Kaiser, an inspector of court police in Sylhet and Monirul Islam, an inspector of Jalalabad Police Station – who died during an anti-militancy drive in Sylhet earlier this year will be awarded posthumously.
Besides, 106 out of 182 who played “effective roles” to conduct anti-militancy operation will also be rewarded for their performance in solving various militant and crime-related cases.
Mukhlesur Rahman, additional IGP (Admin), DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia, Shafiqul Islam, additional IGP of Anti-Terrorism, and Monirul Islam, chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crimeunit, will also receive awards.
In addition, 12 female officers will also be awarded. Among them, additional DIG of the CID Rowshan Ara, and Assistant Commissioner of Ramna Zone Police Hamida Parveen are notable.
Among the high officials of police who will be awarded this year are Mokhlesur Rahman, additional inspector general (admin), Md Moniruzzaman, additional DIG of intelligence and special affairs of PHQ, Sheikh Hemayet Hossain, additional IGP of CID, and Md Asaduzzaman, SP Bogra.
