11 fake DB men held in Ctg
Detectives today claimed to have arrested 11 fake members of Detective Branch (DB) of police in different areas of Chittagong.
A team of DB conducted a drive last night and arrested the 11 people, who allegedly committed robbery and mugged people identifying themselves as detectives, Deputy Commissioner (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Hasan Md Shawkat Ali said today.
The arrestees are: Haradhan Das, 37, Mamun Uddin alias Mamun, 35, Md Kaiser Hamid alias Raju, 31, Md Jahidul Azam, 35, Shahed Rana alias Shahed, 31, Shawkat Ali, 32, Selim Mahmud, 44, Rezaul Karim, 51, Md Rubel, 30, Jahidul Karim, 35, and Md Masud, 28.
The law enforcers also recovered two motorcycles, one CNG-run auto-rickshaw, two jackets of DB police, a handcuff, a toy gun, and a walkie talkie from their possession, the DC official said.
The DB team conducted the raid based on their investigation in a robbery case filed with Kotwali Police Station in the city.
According to the case statement, a gang of robbers intercepted one Imtiaz Uddin Imon, 22, a student of City College in Chittagong, identifying themselves as DB men and snatched Tk 1.67 lakh from him in Kotwali area of the city on December 28 last year.
The arrestees are being grilled to know more about their crimes, the DB official added.
