PM wants BCL council by March: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today asked Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) to hold its next council by March.
"I discussed the matter with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and she wants the council to be held by March, the month of independence," Quader said while inaugurating a programme marking the 70th founding anniversary of BCL on Dhaka University campus this noon.
Quader, a former president of the student front of ruling Awami League, also instructed its leaders to hold a central executive committee meeting to fix the date of the council.
Stressing the need for increasing quality leadership instead of quantity of the leaders, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said Awami League President Sheikh Hasina instructed him to take organaisational and administrative action against the BCL men who are involved in criminal activities.
Earlier on January 2, a section of the BCL men demanded new committee as the tenure of the incumbent committee expired in July 2017.
