2 college students killed in Mymensingh

Two college students were allegedly stabbed dead and another suffered injuries during a clash over playing badminton in Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh this evening.

The victims were identified as Akash, 21, son of Prof Mujibur Rahman, and Sourab, 22, son of Anwar Hossain of Shahpara, reports our local correspondent quoting police.

Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge of Haluaghat Police Station Kamrul Islam Miah said two groups of local youths engaged in a feud over playing badminton at Shahpara in the upazila headquarters yesterday evening.

As a sequel to the feud, both the factions engaged in a fresh altercation around 7.30pm today. At one stage, the rivals of the victims stabbed them indiscriminately, leaving three youths critically injured, he said.

They were rushed to Haluaghat upazila Health Complex where doctors declared Akash and Sourab dead, the OC said adding that the injured youth -- Shunya, 20, -- was undergoing treatment at the health complex.
