4 powerlifters killed in Delhi road crash
Four Indian powerlifting players were killed and two others injured as a private car carrying them overturned on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway in Delhi today.
The deceased are Harish, Shuroj, Pintu and Modhu while the injured are powerlifting world champion Saksham Yadav and another player, our Kalkata correspondent reports quoting Indian media reports.
All the four players died on the spot, the reports said.
The private car carrying the six athletes crashed with a road divider, after its driver lost control over the steering, on the road and turned turtle near Alipur village around 4:00am.
The injured were admitted to the Max hospital in Shalimar Bagh in New Delhi.
The accident occurred due to dense fog when the six athletes were going to their Delhi houses from an athletic meet in Panipat, reports Indian local media quoting police.
