Mild tremor jolts northern districts
A mild earthquake jolted some parts of the country’s northern districts this morning.
The earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale was felt around 7:14am, our Rajshahi correspondent reports quoting Iqbal Ahmed, a specialist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The epicenter of the earthquake was near the India-Bangladesh border in India's northeastern state of Assam, some 272 kilometres north of Dhaka's earthquake observatory, said Iqbal.
Many panicked residents rushed out of their houses in different areas of Rajshahi city, Rangpur, Nilphamari, following the tremor, reports our Rajshahi correspondent.
However, no casualty was reported.
